When can you hold a bearded dragon?

so im hoping to get a bearded dragon next month, but i dont know how old its going to be. but i want to know is how long i should wait before i try picking it up after i get it, as i want to be able to let it out of its viviarium once in a while to have a wander round the bathroom or some other room in the house.
