What is the fastest way to learn to play guitar?

I've got an electric guitar and am fairly decent with basic chords. I'm trying out tab and was wandering if an one has any helpful tips. Perhaps there is an online course that is especially effective. I'm only 14 and I'm short on cash, so actually going to take lessons from an instructor is out of the question. any helpful answers will be greatly appreciated!
