Do i like this boy, or is it just my imagination?

well there is this boy i know and he is the same age as me. we talk a lot and he is funny. i don't know if i like him, but i end up talking about him a lot and my mind sometimes wanders off and i end up thinking about him. i don't know if he would like me back....should i ask him if he likes me, or would this ruin or friend relationship
